The Tanque Verde Valley is nestled in the valley between where the Catalina and Rincon mountains ranges meet. The landscape is very green and lush because of the close proximity to the mountains and this area gets much of the rainfall flowing off of the mountains. There are large washes and creeks running through the Tanque Verde Valley and the two largest ones are the Tanque Verde Wash and the Bear Canyon Creek. There are several natural hot springs in the area, making the Tanque Verde Valley very unique to the rest of Tucson. Also, because the two mountains border the Tanque Verde Valley, the area has little room for growth so the population is low. Zoning ordinances require dwellings to be on larger lots which makes this area a highly desirable place to live in Tucson. The Tanque Verde Valley has become an affluent community with a rich ranching and farming history and still has a significant equestrian presence. According to the most recent census, the median household income is one of the highest in all of Arizona. The Tanque Verde Valley has amenities such as parks, above average public schools, churches, golf, hiking, restaurants lodging, and shopping.
